HISTORY: Luis Alfonso and his wife Maria Leticia lives in his farm in the top of the Caicedo’s mountains. Luis is a coffee producer as a heritage from his father. He bought his farm, plot by plot, using loans from banks, it was so hard because interest rates were high and the coffee prices usually are below cost of production. However with dedication and hard work he was able to raise his seven childrens.
In 2014 Luis participated in best cup of Antioquia and got 4th place and received a very good price and It was a motivation for him to continue producing high quality coffee. Now he is focused in specialty market looking for fair prices to let him live better and give better conditions for his family and workers.
He says: “My thoughts are on specialty coffe cause I have the opportunity to do something that not all the people do, I have unique environmental conditions, all we need is work hard to get the best coffee”
